These short, cold days have me craving a 'Dark and Stormy'. Actually they have been making me reminisce about drinking cocktails in the sunshine in Bermuda. It's a magical place with turquoise seas and pink sandy beaches. We once spent a week zipping around the island on mopeds, swimming with dolphins...and drinking these.

I spent Friday at the Seasoned Cookery School on a 'Brilliant Bakes' course hosted by Brendan, finalist in 2012's Great British Bake Off. The day started off very well with a slab of Brendan's homemade granola slice and a cup of tea.

I love beetroot. Back in the 70's when on holiday I used to fill my plate with purple vinegary slices because it was something I recognised. These candy striped Choggia roots take my beety love to a whole new level.
