List for Christmas Future

January 1, 2011

We had a lovely and quite white Christmas and New Year. But I was left with a slight feeling of disappointment in myself under a general sub-heading of ‘Must-Try-Harder’. I was about to write a list of things to do differently next year, but I just know I’ll lose it so here it is, preserved […]

Autumn 2010

It’s getting to the time of year when I reflect upon how the garden has shaped up. There are still a few bits of colour around: a few grapes on the vine, the pink japanese anemones, some self seeded violas in with the vegetables. My favourite Verbena Bonariensis has been really feeble though. Anyone else […]

Issy at Fennel and Fern asked if we would write a guest post for their updated gardening site. I wrote about how we got on this year with our raised beds. Take a look and have a browse around the rest of Fennel and Fern too. Here’s the link.

Saturday 10th July was the date of 2010’s Ambergate Carnival. I was not on the committee this year having been involved in fundraising and events for Carnivals 2008 and 2009. Luckily this meant I had chance to enjoy the Circus themed day and take a few photos. The parade included juggling clowns, the colourful marching band, the […]

I just realised I’ve not updated the blog for ages. I’ve been busy taking photos for other projects and getting involved with the Carnival. Here are some of the things I have picked, cooked, eaten, witnessed and photographed over the last couple of weeks. The garden is growing at full tilt. Luckily my obsession with Cavalo […]

Deb from Fabulous Places and I visited Chatsworth House Gardens this week. It was quite a rainy old day but we were lucky and managed to dodge most of the showers. Here is a slide show of some of my photographs:

No Knead Bread V2.0

February 27, 2010

I have made this bread almost every week. It gives you a sturdy, crusty loaf, with an almost ciabatta like airiness inside. It is the only loaf I know that crackles as it cools; it's that crusty.
