Are you ready for a cheesy video?
This is our bid to be bloggers for the London 2012 Olympics.
It was so difficult to fit what we wanted to say into a 30 second film, we had to do some severe editing on our ‘larks around the garden.’ We also had to retreat inside after a sunny start due to a massive hailstorm. The joys of the British weather.
If you fancy entering then have a look at the Samsung Global Blogger page. Just make sure that your effort is not TOO good as we really have our heart set on being Olympic Bloggers.
Years ago, when London was in the running to be the host, we promised George that we would take him to some events if London won. After London was successful in their bid we excitedly requested various tickets…but were unlucky in the ticket lottery, so this is our last chance to be there. I am taking time off work to spend the Summer with George getting up to all sorts of adventures and this would be the best adventure of all. Something to remember forever.
We already have plans; I have dreams of photo blogging and writing and George is honing his animation, video and music editing skills.
Fingers crossed that the judging panel think we fit the bill. Perhaps a few encouraging comments below might help our cause 😉
If you are on a mobile device and can’t see the video above, here is a link to it on Flickr where I might post the out-takes another day!
Update 15th April: Our audition video is now on the Samsung Website!
Update 31st May…WE ARE FINALISTS! Please please click and support our final video.

I’m rooting for you. OK, I was on the fence really, but George won me over. Kidding, you guys are great. I love the video. Good luck.

It’s true…George is the star, although we had to cut some of his ‘best bits’.

Very best of luck. Really hope you get chosen as I can’t think of anyone I’d like to read an account of the Olympics (and the wonderful Olympic pics) from more. We applied for tickets and got 2 – to boxing. So sadly I don’t think we’ll be going (wrong sport and which child would we leave out?!) My husband is a sporting nut so he’ll be glued to it -and hopefully I’ll be glued to your blog. Olympic people – read this comment – pick Things We Make….they share a really special part of British life all over the world (including to me in Dubai).

Best wishes! Reminds me of when my own sons were younger, and we made our own Olympics parties–decorated a vinyl tablecloth with Olympic rings and fireworks and country flags, made special foods, and used it as a way to learn about the different countries and sports. Very special times for our family–what a treat it would be to see the actual Games!

Just discovered you from Saveur’s list. As you’ve heard, you have a wonderful site here. I can’t imagine seeing a 30sec video as charming, sweet and all round convincing as yours. Best wishes… wendy
