Sunday Funday

Sunday 5th of July ended up being quite a busy day.

First we headed off to the Belper Food Festival to see what goodies were on offer. I think we bumped into pretty much everyone we know there! There were loads of stalls from local producers and it had a really good turn out too.

Then it was a quick dash back to Ambergate for the Carnival Fun Family Sports Day and Pet Show. The Sporty bit of the day involved 2 main races, the more arduous “Up and Down” that is a run to the top of Shining Cliff Woods and back, and the more sedate “Round and Round” on the track. George was really determined to win the R&R this year, he was 2nd last year and was desperate for the trophy. He did it!

Then we had organised a new venture: The Pet Show. Lots of people turned up with their assorted doggies and some pictures of small pets too. Of course Ernie took part and did us proud demonstrating his rolling over trick, but then losing out to a dog called Mac. But he won the ‘Fastest Dog’ category assisted by Ed. They managed to miss the carnage on the track caused by runaway dog Bob and literally romped home in 1st place! Here he is in the best jumper contest:

We then had an informal sporty session that included a ‘parents and kids 3 legged race’, an obstacle race and a game of rounders where none of us knew the rules!

The sun stayed with us throughout, and I hope that everyone had a nice, if slightly chaotic, afternoon.

The results of the day can be found ‘here’ and if you would like to know more about the Carnival or see more photo’s click here. All photo’s in this post are by John Armstrong-Prior who was official event photographer.
