On Saturday I said to the man “We are having nibbly starters when our friends come round tonight. It would be nice to spread it all out on a board like they have at Jamie’s Italian. Can you make one?”
“I’ve got a big piece of oak. How big do you want it?” He says.
Just one of the benefits of having a man with a workshop and woodworking tendencies.

Oh I like that. Oak’s a hard wood too, so it’s not easy to craft (I make my own picture frames but confess to avoiding oak and ash)

I’m afraid some of my requests are detrimental to Ed’s woodworking equipment but I think this one was no trouble!

Gorgeous pictures!! And how beautiful are those wooden boards!!! I’m a bit addicted to wooden boards do I’m green with envy. If your man ever decides to make them to sell, please tell me about it! My man can do me a mean painting or drawing but in the wood working department he is quite useless 😀

I love wooden boards, but I have never seen such a cool one. It would be perfect for a garden party, too 🙂

What a luxury kind of plank – looks great, I think I need to order something like that from my sister who is the craftswoman in our family…

I don’t think it’s luxury…although I must admit, the amount of antipasti it holds cost a small fortune!

I was coveting something similar, made from old oak wine barrels, this weekend. Half the size and about 50 quid

This is a fantastic idea, would be great while having guests over.

It works really well as it means everyone can reach it and it doesn’t take up much table space. We balanced it on a couple of soup cans!

I may have to think up a good excuse to ask the Patient Husband to make me one of these. We don’t often have guests over, but it would be great for an outside picnic.

Hey! I showed it to the Patient Husband, and he said, “Well, I have a piece of oak….”

It’s not the size of the plank that matters – it’s how you stock it. 😉 Although that’s a pretty awesome plank, and spread. Nice team effort.

This reminds me of how I had to go to Home Depot to find the right size rolling pin for ravis. I should have gone to your house and stuck one of those planks under my shirt. Love the photos.

This is pretty cool! It’s a large piece of oak made into a serving wooden board. Nice.
