There seems to be some good stuff happening for me this week that has left me all of a flutter.
Firstly on Monday, whilst we were heading home from a Weekend away, an article about Things{we}make was published in the Foodie Bugle. I was very flattered to be asked to be featured in the new ‘online magazine that tells the whole story of good food and drink’ as I love the style of the Bugle and I admire a lot of its contributors work.
The article covers my food, blogging and the set up of etc magazine. We have had lots of new subscribers and some very agreeable comments from our new readers.
Then the next day I received my first licence request, for one of my photographs, from Getty Images. Now I am officially on their books I can work on and submit more images to be used commercially.
The image that one of Getty’s customers have asked for is not one of my food images that I have worked so hard on recently, but is of a landscape shot from back in 2009.
It won’t stop me taking pictures of food though.
Then the day after that I noticed a spike in the blog stats and spotted that they were coming from Saveur Magazine. I clicked the link and found that we have been listed as one of the ’50 more food blogs you should be reading’
Many thanks to the readers that nominated us. The quote about why thingswemake.co.uk is loved includes the very pleasing: “Really original photographs and a lovely writing style bring a little corner of England to life.”
I am pleased that some of my favourite blogs won awards including the beautiful What Katie Ate and the ever fascinating David Lebovitz and very honoured to be a ‘next favourite’ and named alongside the award winners.
Ooh, and my first two gardening articles went live on the Town and Country website too, I shall be writing for that every few weeks. My first post was on easy vegetable growing and then this one on my favourite flowers Astrantia:
On top of all this good news we had a fabulous girls lunch at our place, with lots of delicious food and great conversation, I am soon to photograph some beautiful Yurts in Derbyshire in exchange for a stay in one, plus we are at the Derbyshire Food and Drink Festival at the Weekend promoting and selling our very own magazine, etc.
All in all things seem to be looking up…and it’s not even Friday yet!
So welcome, new readers, we hope you enjoy the journey.

I think that was my quote on Saveur – so glad you were featured…highly deserved in my opinion.

Oh bless you Sally! I did wonder if it might be you. Thank you so much. Was reading your Market Post last night and wondering how you keep the beautiful vegetables from wilting in the heat on the way home. We don’t have ‘quite’ that problem *fetches a jumper to put on*
