George requested a chocolatey cake, so I made some triple choc brownies. These are based on Jamie Oliver’s ’15’ recipe and are very gooey, rich and good as a dessert.
Just to balance it out I made some no knead bread and a marmalade tea loaf too. That’s us set up with baked goods for the Weekend. Off for a walk now with some friends and their doggies in this very rare spot of sunshine.
Looking forward to tea and cake on our return.
P.S. We are back now and below is a picture we took after the walk of Toby the Lakeland Terrier and Debs’ feet.
We made the most of the sun and walked through Thacker Woods, with a diversion due to the clay pigeon shooting, and then up over Nodin Hill to Heage Windmill and back through Nether Heage so we could show Deb and David some of our own fab places

As requested Jamie’s brownie recipe (abridged)
Preheat oven to 180c
Line a 12″ long rectangular tin with butter and greaseproof paper
Melt 7oz (200g) 70% choc and 9oz butter (a whole 250g pat) in a large bowl over simmering water
NB: I now use half milk choc and half 70% dark choc to make them less uber-choc (2 x 100g bars)
Mix until smooth
In another bowl mix:
80g cocoa powder
65g plain flour
1tsp baking powder
350g caster sugar
Add this to the choc/butter mix and stir
Add 4 beaten eggs and beat with a wooden spoon until glossy
I add a couple of handfuls of choc chips at this point although Jamie’s suggestion of sour cherries is good too, I put choc chips on the top also.
Pour into the tray and cook for 25-30 minutes or until it look equally ‘plumped up’ all over (not sunken in the middle)
Allow to cool in the tray
Lift out and chop up into chunks when cold
Good as they are or warmed up with cream or ice cream

NOTE TO SELF (May 2011)
Just made this again and it was still quite intense. Lovely, but intense. I will add less cocoa next time as the Green & Blacks cocoa I used is very strong. Perhaps 40-50g is enough.

Wow, those brownies look wickedly good. What do you have growing in the pot?…some red oakleaf lettuce?

Thanks! Yes the leaves are ‘Granada’ – they grow red in a pot but tinged green and red in the garden for some reason.
